The first Labor Day Holiday was celebrated in New York City in 1882. Now, 134 years later, we still dedicate the first Monday in September to the social and economic achievements of American workers. This day is a National tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. Well, that’s at least how the U.S. Department of Labor describes it.
