Business and Sports Are the Ultimate Meritocracies

We’ve worked with some of the most successful financial advisories in America…and for every one we’ve worked with, we’ve met with 50 more. And to their credit, nearly every one of them has desired to be the very best. But for us all, like sports, the difference between wanting something and achieving something requires equal parts natural ability, discipline, hard work, and execution.

Look at it this way, if you were to walk through downtown Kansas City, you’d see a lot of people wearing jerseys with the numbers “15”’ and “87” on them. And like every team, there are always one or two players who combine their God-given talent and hard work…and THOSE are the jerseys that fans buy. The other 51 players are super talented…but many, sadly, are in some form forgettable.

We all have limitations, and chances are we’re not a “15” or an “87”…but where we rank among the other players on the roster is up to us. The choices that we make in business will ultimately match our level of 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲 to our level of 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲. We live in a world where comparing our rank with peers and competitors is easier than ever.

So, our challenge is to have the will to max out on our potential and accept the responsibility, and the reality of the outcome. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀.
